In 2023, while the number of exhibitors and visitors at the SENC exhibition reached a new high, N-type cell products fully blossomed. Nearly 60 component companies launched N-type new products, and the industry has fully entered the era of N-type mass production. Founded in 2010, JTPV has been deeply engaged in the cell industry for more than ten years, focusing on the research and development and manufacturing of high-efficiency solar cells. "Ten years grinding a sword", under the guidance of rich industry experience, JTPV took the lead in starting the mass production planning of N-type cells, becoming the first professional battery manufacturer to achieve large-scale TOPCon cell sheet supply in China.


N-type products are in high demand and have entered a new era of mass production


Since 2023, the high cost performance of N-type TOPCon products has been widely recognized by the market. According to the data, the proportion of N-type product bidding has significantly increased this year, and the N-type proportion of some central state-owned enterprise bidding projects has reached 50%, and the market acceptance of TOPCon components has significantly increased.


Obviously, N-type TOPCon technology has become the mainstream technology to replace P-type at present, bringing about an effective reduction in BOS cost of terminal power stations.


From the perspective of component efficiency, the current mass production efficiency of N-type cells can exceed 25%, higher than the 23.8% of P-type cells. With the improvement of efficiency, investment costs such as single-tile land, support, construction and installation costs, and management costs will also decrease;


From the output power point of view, N-type cell technology brought low power temperature coefficient, high double-sided rate and other excellent characteristics, can provide higher output power for components, thereby reducing the cost of inverters, grid access and other equipment.


At the system end, N-type cell technology has lower attenuation and higher power generation per watt over the whole life cycle. The first year decay rate of TOPCon components is about 1% (PERC is about 2%), and the average annual decay rate after the first year is about 0.4% (PERC is about 0.45%). Due to the low power attenuation, N-type TOPCon brings a power generation gain of about 1.8%.


In summary, the overall premium space of N-type component products is about 0.15 yuan /W.


With the support of high cost performance, the demand for TOPCon cells is rising. Wang Bohua, honorary chairman of China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), proposed during the SNEC exhibition that it is expected that the N-type cell market will account for more than 20% this year. According to PVinfolink statistics, this year's N-type product shipments will fall between 25-30%, compared with 9.1% of the market in 2022.


Under the large market demand, N-type TOPCon cells are in short supply, and the photovoltaic market has fully entered the era of N-type mass production. In September 2022, with technology accumulation, JTPV took the lead in the industry to achieve large-scale mass production of N-type TOPCon cells, and continued to use its technological leadership to expand new capacity.


Up to now, the company has a total of 9.5GW P-type PERC production capacity in Shangrao Base, 18GW N-type TOPCon production capacity in Chuzhou base, and 26GW N-type TOPCon production capacity in Huaian base (13GW has been put into production in the first phase, 13GW is expected to achieve full production in 2023). By the end of 2023, the company's production capacity will reach 53.5GW, and N-type production capacity will reach 44GW. In the process of upgrading PV cells from P-type to N-type, the company is expected to continue to enjoy N-type technology dividends and gain a leading competitive position in the market with the advantage of leading technology and capacity scale.

1) Efficiency assurance


At present, the mass production efficiency of JTPV's N-type battery cells can reach 25.5%, and it is expected to reach 25.8% by the end of 2023. In the selection of technical routes, JTPV adopts LPCVD SiOx/i-poly+ phosphorus expansion route for mass production, which has the characteristics of high film forming quality and high process maturity, and the efficiency reaches more than 25% within three months of production, and has many years of large-scale mass production experience.


At the same time, JTPV has a deep technical heritage, and the company continues to optimize the front-end strategic layout and increase investment in special research and development. In terms of technical route, the company has always adhered to the technology research and development concept of "pre-research generation, pilot generation, mass production generation", and deeply integrated the integration of production, university and research development, and the R & D team based on doctors and masters has applied for 47 inventions and nearly 200 patents in the field of N-TOPCon cells.


At present, on the basis of the mass production of TOPCon 2.0 products, JTPV continues to develop TOPCON 3.0 products, continuously improve efficiency and reduce costs, and carry out corresponding reserves and research and development in BC, HJT, perovskite stacking technology, and continue to improve the competitiveness of the company's products.


2) Yield guarantee


JTPV can ensure that the yield of mass-produced battery products is more than 97%. For large-scale delivery of cell products, the guarantee of yield plays a pivotal role in improving production efficiency and ensuring supply chain stability, and the improvement of 1% yield means tens of millions of cost savings. The improvement of accuracy is particularly obvious in the quality of photovoltaic cells, which was previously judged by manual visual inspection, high cost, low efficiency, and eye fatigue is prone to error.


Through highly intelligent and automated production equipment, JTPV realizes a comprehensive digital workshop and intelligent factory, replaces manual operation by using robotic arm, intelligent AGV car and information system, and realizes a series of online systems such as online detection, online identification and online monitoring in the whole link, further improving lean management, optimizing process, improving efficiency and improving quality.


Through ERP+MES intelligent support, the cell can achieve unique serial number management, production traceability and tracking, while monitoring production line capacity, product quality and equipment status, rapid analysis and deployment of capacity, lean production, improve supervision efficiency and internal information transfer, reduce communication costs.


Stable supply chain, experienced in mass production


As a leader in N-type cell manufacturing, service and sales, JTPV has established rich supply chain resources. We have established long-term strategic cooperation with many silicon wafer enterprises such as Longji and Zhonghuan to ensure the supply of upstream raw materials and provide a stable supply chain source for cell wafer manufacturing.
